We have recently finalized data collection for our NIMH-funded collaborative R01 to examine the potential benefit of training early intervention providers to deliver a focused imitation intervention for toddlers at increased likelihood for developing ASD. We are currently in the data analysis part of the project.

Understanding the process of parent engagement in parent-mediated intervention: A mixed methods analysis of early intervention sessions

This project examines how training Part C early intervention providers in caregiver-implemented Reciprocal Imitation Teaching (CI-RIT) affects parent engagement during and between sessions. Using quantitative observational coding, we assess whether provider training boosts parent engagement by improving the quality of parent coaching. We also use qualitative analysis of session recordings to explore how providers identify and help parents work through barriers to sustained engagement.

PEACE 4 ImPACT

A collaborative study between Michigan State University and the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia focusing on their Early Intervention System. The study will evaluate the impact of the PEACE implementation toolkit and determine the level of support needed to improve early intervention providers’ use of caregiver coaching
with families of young children. Families receiving caregiver coaching will be assessed for both caregiver and child outcomes, as well as the cost effectiveness of the implementation toolkit. The study aims to enhance the services provided to families of young children with developmental delays and improve their long-term outcomes.
